The Central government has launched the Prime Minister Kisan Scheme under the Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. The scheme provides assured income support of Rs 6,000 per year to farmers having cultivable land of up to 2 hectares. PM Kisan will be available to all farmers having land of up to 2 hectares on a phased basis, however, in the initial phase, the scheme is being launched for those farmers having land up to 1 hectare of agricultural land.

The below-mentioned information will help you in finding your PM Kisan's status: · For farmers who have less than 2 hectares of agricultural land, the process of identification of farmers will take time. · It is also provided that a few farmers may be exempted from the process of identification of the farmers.

PM Kisan Status Introduction

PM Kisan Status is a government scheme introduced on 1st July 2015 in order to improvise the farming market of nature. The scheme aimed at better productivity from rural farming by utilizing necessary resources in a proper manner. Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs took up this scheme under the leadership of our honourable Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. A budget of 500 billion INR was drawn to cater towards PMKSY.

All farmers in the country are classified into three categories viz., Kharif/Rabi croppingMill / Dairy and Post-harvest. All cropping can be undertaken as per the Government's policy. However, due to no support for post-harvest, farmers are required to incur huge losses.

For post-harvest, Govt. has initiated various schemes for rural farmers such as Cooperative Grameen Yojana (CGY), Credit Linked Subsidy Programme (CLSP), and Gramin Kharif System (KHS) etc.

However, the farmers were not able to avail the benefit of these schemes as they were not registered with the Govt. and they do not have bank accounts. · Due to this reason, The Government of India has launched the scheme, 'PM Kisan (Income linked scheme)'

Objectives of PM Kisan Status 2021

The PMKSY mission aimed to fulfil the following objectives:

  1. A channelized irrigation system in farms to provide required water in fields.
  2. Development of existing land and utilizing cultivable land for better productivity.
  3. Introduce technologies that make the best of water as a natural resource and ensures conservation too.
  4. Involvement of the administration in order to draw a financial plan in order to commence the use of those technologies.
  5. Proper research in recycling the wastewater to promote “More Crop Per Drop“.

Implementation Of PM Kisan Status 2021

The present scheme is in sync with the aim of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act and provides rural poor, especially landless rural workers, with cash support which ensures agricultural sustainability.

Beneficiaries of PM Kisan status will be provided with skill development training for the successful execution of irrigation projects.

The Indian nation is largely dependent on its agricultural sector for profits and development. Thus improper cultivation of crops leads to the suffering of many individuals and the society as a whole. Since agriculture largely depends on the availability of water, the implementation of PMKSY largely depends on the irrigation systems. Thus the government has taken the following steps:

  • Keeping in mind that 55% of the cultivable land in India does not have proper irrigation facilities, approximately 6 Lakh hectares of land has been brought under irrigation.
  • There are parts of cultivable land that suffer under poor irrigation techniques. Thus a part of the funds went to approximately 1300 watershed projects to improve those conditions.
  • The irrigation facilities are to be administered on district and state levels by a supervising board called National Steering Committee (NSC). Narendra Modi is the chairman of this committee which consists of ministers as state (where PMKSY is implemented) representatives.
  • “More Crop Per Drop” is being implemented by optimal use and reuse of water resources. This is having a two-way benefit: clean water for crops and water conservation. The success of PMKSY largely banks on water preservation so a large part of the funds is being utilized to recycle water using modern technologies.
  • Apart from improving the efficiency of farming techniques, the government has also made a provision for the promotion of the National Agricultural Market. From the original budget, 200 crore INR has been extended to promote policies to increase the sale of crops produced.
